I will openly admit, I have what some may call a torch
fetish. I see a particularly splendid portable illuminating device and
I just have to own it. And what an example to start with. A 3xAAA cell, single LED torch that incorporates a sliding hood to enable wider illumination if needed. |

The single LED means this pocket torch
(110mm x 28mm) will last a long, long time powered by the three batteries.
And as AAAs are employed they will be easily replaceable, or even substituted
for rechargeables. The batteries fit into a sort of 'casette' that is
then inserted into the torch body. My only gripe is that three rechargeable
batteries requires strong management skills (and extra batteries) if using
a 2/4 cell charger. The lens is a magnified job which produces a really good spot beam. The sliding hood however (presumably intended for when hanging inside a tent or similar) does not produce such a good effect. The torch comes with a strap which should not be relied upon too heavily, and a cheapish belt pouch. All in all, while not my favourite torch, it is the one that gets used the most through choice. |
