Saka 7" LCD Monitor
Saka
Silver man in a hurry

A neat little LCD monitor that accepts two AV inputs and a coax socket, besides having it's own analogue tuner.

Cost about £70 a few months back from Maplin Electronics.

I use this little beauty mainly for viewing 4 CCTV channels when the more usual (and larger) monitor is employed displaying movies. I have also used this baby for watching the Grand Prix via the Astra satellite while in the south of France. Unfortunately while at home it started to play up and appeared to have been fried by the (supplied) DC power supply. It was returned to Maplin whereby after an extended period of time it was replaced. Not all happy in the end though as the replacement has a single dead pixel where the original had it's full compliment.

Incidentally, my better half returned the faulty unit via the local Maplin store and I supplied a note saying that the power supply had possibly gone over-voltage and taken out the unit itself. The logic being that I didn't want them replacing the TV only and returning the faulty supply allowing it to claim another TV. The shop 'assistant' said something to the effect "That doesn't make sense, I'll check it myself". So, he plugs it in, gets a shower of sparks from the DC socket and calmly writes on the returns note "Power supply has possibly gone over-voltage and taken out the unit".

As far as the pros go, it has a number of goodies. The screen image can be mirrored and/or flipped making it very useful for rear view cameras in your camper etc. It has a couple of games for when there is nothing better on the TV. There is a calendar, a sleep timer, various screen formats (16:9, 4:3, zoom etc) and the menu understands a number of languages. All functions are available from the remote control.
