Motours Review

Motors ceased trading
31st March 2003

Two things new to us here are the use of a caravan/mobile home and the decision to try a different company to that which we have used for many years before.

Our first contact with Motours was a request via the internet for their latest brochure and price list. To our amazement it turned up a couple of days later, obviously they deal with requests immediately unlike others that think a week or more doesn't matter.

The first thing we noticed was that Motours prices are very reasonable, the second thing was that we were able to work this out very quickly. Let me explain why; Most of the Self-Drive companies use a very complicated method of calculating just how much your holiday is going to cost, they give you a price dependant on the time of year, plus or minus a certain amount for more or less days, then you have to check against another table to add additional amounts according to what campsite you stay at, plus extra for staying at a site for less than so many days. All that is far too complicated and can certainly put some people off at the very start.

Motours is not like that at all. Simply look through the brochure to decide where you want to go and the prices are there on the same page, everything included, simple.

We chose a couple of sites in France, Camping La Petite Camargue, near the Camargue and Camping Domaine du Colombier, near St Tropez, both on the south coast. A phone call to Maeve at Motours to check availability and it was all sorted, booked and paid for within a few minutes. A couple of days later the documents came through the post.

We received a 'voucher' for the ferry enabling us to drive straight to the 'with tickets' section at Dover and a 'voucher' for each of the campsites. These were simply presented to reception on arrival and gave all the relevant information needed regarding type of accommodation and length of stay, all very simple and uncomplicated.

Conclusion
Motours offer a very efficient, competitively priced, faultless service. So impressed are we that we shall be using them next year.
